I thought I would do my first food post just for fun :) And I thought this was kind of funny.
Mandoo means dumpling in Korean. Every so often, my family including my aunts will help make mandoo. Everyone helps because mandoo is very tedious to make. You have to ensure it's properly sealed so it doesn't burst when you boil it. However, when my family makes mandoo, we make TONS of it so we can split it. After I made a good 50 or so, I was over making mandoo (seriously, it gets very tiring) and I headed to my room. I came out later, walked into my kitchen and this is what I saw...
LOL! Is that not alot of mandoo or what!? And truth is, those are the ones already boiled and cooked! When I took these pictures, they were STILL making mandoo and were platters of mandoo getting ready to be cooked. I guess I'll be having all kinds of mandoo dishes this week, lol. Most are regular pork/beef mandoo, but some have kimchi in them.
And now, time to go eat some! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

HUNGER attack! I love mandoos!!! So does my hubby, I won't show him the photo or else, he'll be asking us to go out and buy mandoo like ASAP! We bought them frozen from a store and boil it..i'm sure home made are way much better oohhhh

Oh my god! Gee! You just made me drooling all over :P I love love Mandoo so much, I remember that every holiday my grandma, my mom, my sister and me made over 500 mandoo and holy molly ! Everytime when I made mandoo...my arm was hurt for few days lol but sure it's yummy. They look very delicious :D

Oh my, i never tasted mandoos and i'm so curious cause they look delicious. My brother has a korean friend and once in Vancouver he prepared kimchii for us, i was delighted by the taste!
In Rome there's a couple of korean restaurants, i don't know if they are valuable or not, but when i'm back from my vacations i'd like to have a korean launch to taste mandoos.
In Italy we used to prepare a similar dish, we call it "ravioli", the regular raviolo is beef filled, or ricotta cheese and spinach, the shape is like a small square and after boiling, is dressed with tomato sauce, or ragù (tomato sauce and beef cooked 5-6 hours long) or better, if you prefer ravioli ricotta cheese and spinach, the perfect way is butter and sage.
